New irksome thing! While Stupid people are frustrating in their own right, the simplicity of people is now becoming the thing that frustrates me more. It irritates me that people have predictable reactions, and predictable thoughts. I don’t want to be able to know what people will do, this just makes life boring. I miss the days when people surprised me, I miss the days when I could ask someone a question and not get the answer that I was almost positive it would be before I asked it.
You people need to become more complicated, surprise me! Add a little strangeness in the world, mix things up. You need to become more in the moment, go big or go home. If more people had my mentality on life, life would become much less boring. If you didn’t read anything else, this is what you should take home with you: Be more instinctive, take what you want, and screw the rest of the world.
People are stupid.
You know I rediscover things everyday, and everyday has a moral. Somedays the moral is that there is more to humanity than I give it credit for. Occasionally I realize that there are things in this world, so complex we could never hope to understand them while I still walk this earth. And in a very rare instance I realize that if I was a better person, I could really make a difference in the world, if I changed my outlook I could be a force for good.
I have not had one of these days in a very long time.
Most days I come to a conclusion I came to a long time ago, people as a whole are stupid. In my opinion when I first meet someone, I assume that they are as irritating and unintelligent as the majority of the world; if they are very smart, then they prove otherwise. Very few people prove otherwise. Over time, it’s become necessary to create another layer between smart and stupid, as there are some people I associate with that don;t really deserve to be in the smart category. These people are generally intelligent about enough to hold a solid conversation, but not enough to really challenge me in a debate. If you’re wondering what side of the line you’re on, that is probably the best way to make a distinction for yourself.
HINT: You’re most likely not in the best group, unless you’re one of around 3 people. Possibly 4, one of them I’m undecided about at this point.
Quotes from robotics (part 1)
Adhem: I'm so glad you're happy!
Me: I'm so sad you're glad
Star Wars
Marshal: She's never seen Star Wars?! Ted the only people in the universe who have never seen Star Wars are the characters in Star Wars and that's cause they lived them Ted, that's cause they lived the Star Wars.
Ted: You've gotta calm down.
Marshall: I told you. I told you that you don't know this girl well enough. What if you show it to her and she doesn't like it?
Ted: Dude, it's just a movie.
Marshall: Ted, Star Wars is your all time favorite movie, and whether or not Stella actually likes it is really important. Its like a test of how compatible you guys are.
Ted: Marshall, its just a movie.
Marshall: Ha.
Ted: Its just a movie.
121 Awesome minutes later...
Ted: Ok, if Stella doesn't like this movie, I can't marry her.
Marshall: No, you can't.
Ted: Wanna watch it again?
Marshall: Yes I do.
I just read the little thing beneath your picture on this blog... I facepalmed. and then I laughed.
So I’ve recently created a new character for a pathfinder character, and I’ve determined that bards are extremely fun to play, especially if they are of the gnome variety. His bardic instrument is the recorder, and of course he plays it amazingly ;). The one drawback to bards, as I’ve found out the hard way, is that they are relatively useless in combat. Of course their songs of encouragement can aid their comrades, however this doesn’t lead to much that one can do in stage.
So I’ve taken to doing a couple… helpful… things during combat to help my party members defeat the hordes of enemies. In order to better describe what I’m doing, I began playing recorder music on my ipod for the party to hear. Now I’m sure there’s good recorder music out there… somewhere, unfortunately for my party, I chose songs like this. Also, my bard has taken to insulting our enemies with Songs of Disparage, most of which go along the lines of this: “doot doot, your mother’s a whore, doot doot, haha you suck” and continuing along those lines.
Another fun thing you can do, especially with bards, is sloooowly “enhance” the truth about the amount of damage you’ve done to enemies. The truth: I dealt one damage to a zombie while defending a town; what the stories becoming: I single handedly held off the zombie horde, while my team mates cowered in the pub. The trick to making people believe this is to have a much higher bluff than your compatriots have diplomacy :)
Catan, and other things
Coming back from Snowmagedden, as seattlites are lovingly calling it, robotics has been in full force. Utilizing my fully armed and operational programming team we’re fervently rushing to get back on schedule after missing almost a week of robotics, and this early in our build season! For any of you that don’t know, I’m the head programmer on my schools FiRST robotics team (2928). First robotics is an international organization that hosts a competition each year with a 6 week build season. The animation for this years game can be found here: http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F%3Frdm%3D4ozmbjspo&rdm=4ozmbjspo&gl=US#/watch?v=nOXsdhZZSdM
An interesting fact though, I recently played settlers of Catan, which I haven’t played in a while, and I’ve found that the game has a strange ability to spawn inside jokes. Below is a list of a few that our fairly short games have come up with: Birck sheep (painful painful brick sheep) Nobody’s going to trade, roll the damn die Nobody wants your fucking sheep, roll the damn die Gabe, just roll the damn die (insert thing someone wants to get) how about a sheep instead? And many more that I can’t think of off the top of my head.
Fun game
A fun game to play with groups I am increasingly noticing is figuring out who would be who in stories with fairly large casts. For example I have a running game of this with my robotics team, and we’ve figured out quite a few people:
Lord of the rings:
Rob (head of electrical, makes the mistakes): pippin
Paul: merry
Gabe: Sam
Robin: eowyn
T.Q.: Galadriel
Kris: boromir
Mr. Nielsen (team coach, has a beard): gandalf the grey
Cole: Gimli
Kate: Rosie (contested (by Kate))
Jessi: Smeagle
Brandon: Faromir
Adhem: Bill (sam’s pony)
Powell: Shadowfax (Gandalfs horse)
Goodrich: Treebeard
Petah: Haldir
I’m sure I’ve decided on others, I’ll update when I decide Also, I’ve been having a tough time figuring out which character I would be, I’ve been told Tolkien but iiii think I’m more fun than that ;P
